1989
- Richard and Sirrka Betts, Tony Park, Ann and Jack Richards, Janet Stokes
meet at Hingham to discuss formation of local Green Party Group.
- May 17th Public meeting at Dereham Disabled People's club entitled "A
Green Future --- Have We Any Alternative?" Addressed by Mike Filgate,
Euro-election candidate.
- Three candidates fielded in Norfolk County Council elections.
Euro-election result - Greens poll a quarter of a million votes
across the country. With proportional representation, this would have meant 13
Green seats in the European Parliament.
1990
- Regular monthly meetings held at Dereham Youth and Community Centre.
- May 4th, Public Meeting at Dereham Memorial Hall addressed by Jean
Lambert, National Green Party Speaker
1991
- Tony Park elected as first Green Town Councillor for Dereham.
- Following a proposal from Tony Park, Dereham Town Council voted
unanimously to "urgently consider a scheme to promote the use of Public
Transport".
- 150 trees planted at Toftwood First School and 300 trees at Meadow Farm,
Westfield.
1992
- Following pressure from Tony Park, circuses with wild animals were banned
from Dereham Town Council land.
1993
- Four candidates fielded in County council elections
1994
- West Norfolk joins Mid-Norfolk Green Party.
- Active campaigning for Home Energy Conservation Bill.
- Monday, 5th December- first "Nipper Bus" begins a half-hourly
circular service from Toftwood via Dereham Market Place to Dereham Hospital,
with a reported rise in visitors to the Hospital!
1995
- Tony Park elected to Breckland District Council and becomes chairman of
Environmental Policy Committee
- LETS scheme introduced to Dereham area by Green Party members.
1996
- Tony Park selected as prospective parliamentary candidate for Norfolk
- General Election Campaign launched with an address by David Taylor,
Principal Speaker for the Green Party.
1997
- General Election Campaign Office in Wellington Road. Surge. in membership
and support as campaign gets underway.
- Tory candidate elected. Greens poll 1254 votes.
- Campaign against Genetically Modified Foods begins.
1998
- Involvement in campaign to keep Clark's Acre on Neatherd Moor as a wetland
meadow.
- Support for Dereham Hospital Campaign.
- Margaret Wright, top-listed candidate for Eastern Region in Euro Elections
joins us for our annual Christmas party.
1999
- Ten candidates fielded in District Council elections.
- Tony Park top of poll in Neatherd Ward for Dereham Town Council, but loses
his seat on Breckland District Council by four votes.
- Urged Dereham Town Council to set aside land for Organic allotments.
- European Election Campaign begins.
In Eastern Region, Green Party needs 11.1% to win one seat in European
Parliament. Proportional representation for the first time means "GREEN
VOTES COUNT"

The10th Anniversary celebration party
Over this ten year period the Mid-Norfolk Green Party has also
had input into the following:
- Breckland Recycling Plan
- Norfolk Waste Plan
- Norfolk Draft Structure Plan
Mid-Norfolk Green Party has also actively supported the various stages of the
Road Traffic Reduction Bill, which was initiated by the Green Party nationally.
We were involved in the Low Level Radio-active Waste and Warmer Homes
Campaigns.
We supported the Jubilee 2000 campaign to cancel Third World Debt.
